The session of First Presbyterian Church of Thibodaux, Louisiana meeting
this 13th day of August, 2001 joins faithful believers throughout the
Church by joyfully confessing our faith in the One Triune God of Grace:
Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We confess that the Triune God has revealed himself uniquely in Jesus
Christ, who is the only Lord of all, our hope and proof of God’s love
for us.
- We confess that the Holy Scriptures are the Word of God written, the
story of God’s love and the church’s only infallible rule for faith and
life.
- We confess that the Triune God teaches us, through the Scripture and
the Power of the Holy Spirit; a clear standard for ethical purity and
holiness of life. We believe that Christians are called to a lifestyle
of holiness. This includes honoring the sanctity of marriage between a
man and a woman, the only relationship within which sexual activity is
appropriate.
We call upon the Presbyterian Church (USA) to affirm these confessions.
We call upon the Presbyterian Church (USA) to affirm Biblical norms of
behavior and to reject cultural norms that are declared sin by the Bible
and the Book of Confessions. We call upon all members of the
Presbyterian Church (USA) to pray and search the scriptures as we seek
our unity only in Christ.
